Upgrade to Infor System21 Aurora through Indigo enables major supermarket expansion

Alpha Mega, one of the leading supermarket chains in Cyprus, has upgraded to System 21 Aurora through Europe’s largest System 21 channel partner Indigo Software, enabling the Company to expand their supermarket portfolio.

Alpha Mega, one of the leading supermarket chains in Cyprus, has upgraded to System 21 Aurora through Europe’s largest System 21 channel partner Indigo Software, enabling the Company to expand their supermarket portfolio.  The upgrade has been key to the smooth transition of financial data following Alpha Mega’s recent acquisition of four supermarkets on the Island.

Alpha Mega now owns ten supermarkets all positioned in the major cities in Cyprus and the acquisition is expected to increase company turnover from 115 million euros to 185 million euros this year.

Commenting on the project, Stelios Papaxanthos, Finance Director at Alpha Mega said, “We were looking to improve our ERP system so that it could support us in our growth plans.  Our distribution company, CAP, had used Indigo Software previously so naturally they were the first choice in project managing the major upgrade.  We were not disappointed and the project, which included the upgrade, purchase of further IBM i series servers and the roll out of a new accounts structure, went extremely smoothly surpassing delivery and timescale expectations.”

The delivery of the redesigned accounts structure on the upgraded software allowed Alpha Mega to integrate financial information from the newly acquired stores immediately.  Today this provides directors at Alpha Mega with increased visibility of financial data – a capability which will support the Company’s growth strategy.

“Without the upgrade to System21 Aurora, Alpha Mega would not have been able to grow in line with our company strategy and the integration of the four supermarkets would have been impossible”, Stelios continued.  “Our inventory and warehousing run more efficiently and the speed of processing transactions has improved substantially.  We now have further capability within other business areas and we look forward to working with Indigo on future improvements to the business.”

Commenting on the project, Paul Smith, Support Manager at Indigo Software said, “Indigo were delighted to work with Alpha Mega on such an interesting project and we were thrilled that the delivered solution enabled the seamless integration of the recently acquired businesses.  Alpha Mega is deservedly one of the leading supermarkets in Cyprus due to their innovative thinking and forward looking approach.  Indigo look forward to continuing to work closely with the Alpha Mega team to help increase the company’s, profitability, sales and market share.”
